Dear Body,

A love letter that we all need

Did you know you’re the literal best? Like, really. The things that you do for me. We get to jump high, swing fast, lift heavy things, and go far distances. Better than that…we get to laugh, smile, dance, and hug.

We get to know what it’s like to feel the sun on our face. How wonderful it is to let our feet walk in the grass. Thank God we get to feel warmth under a blanket or fluff of one of our beloved pets.

All the things that you do are so cool.

God made you. Did you know that? He created all the parts of you to work perfectly together. The hands to hold. The ears to listen. The arms to hug. The face to smile. And it’s the house of your soul. A dwelling place. A perfect home that we get to live in.

I know there’s days where I take you for advantage. When I don’t realize or remember to thank you for all that you do. I talk cruelly to you. I say mean things to you that I’d never say to a friend. And I’m sorry for that.

You carry me through the scary times. And you hold me together when it feels hard. When my soul feels like it’s going to shatter, you’re the duct tape making sure that I don't break.

You’re made for strength, for resilience, and for carrying me through life.

Do you know how much you’re loved? Not for what you can or cannot do. Not for what you bring to this world. But for merely existing. I love you.

xoxo, self
