Was I born in the wrong time?” Have you ever thought this? Like, maybe you wish you were born before phones. Before group chats. Before everyone could see what everyone else is doing 24/7. Or maybe you’ve thought, “Why is it so hard to just be normal right now?” What if you are not living in this generation by accident?
Esther didn’t choose her situation either. She was young. She was far from home. She was suddenly placed in a palace full of pressure and risk. Esther didn’t ask for the palace life. She didn’t raise her hand and say, “Pick ME for the pressure situation.” She was just…there. She didn’t raise her hand and say, “Pick ME for the pressure situation.” She was just… there. And then everything got serious. Her people were in danger. Really in danger. And she had to decide: stay quiet and protect herself, or say something that could cost her everything, including her life. It was that serious. Her cousin basically told her, “What if this is the reason you’re here?” That’s the verse you’ve probably heard before — “for such a time as this.” We’ve probably all heard that verse before. But what if it’s not just something Esther needed to hear? What if it’s something you need to hear too?
What if you’re here on purpose? Not just alive in 2026. Not just surviving middle school. But placed. Not just getting through awkward stages and weird trends. You didn’t design the era of group chats and filters and algorithms. But God wasn’t surprised by any of it. He chose you to live right now. And that’s not random. So what even is courage? It’s not always big moments, like you may think. Sometimes it is the twisty feeling in your stomach, your heart starts racing and you’re like, “Ugh. I don’t want to do this”? You ever feel like that? THAT’S usually where courage begins. But Esther’s courage started quietly. She prayed. She fasted. She thought. Then, when the moment came… she moved. Because sometimes it’s just making the right choice when it would be easier not to.
Yes… Even Online
Your digital world is part of “this time.” You weren’t placed in the 1980s. You weren’t placed in a world without social media. You were placed here. Now. And that means God can use you here. Courage online might look like not laughing at the screenshot someone sends just to prove you’re “cool.” Or hitting delete instead of share when you know it would hurt someone. Or not changing yourself just to get more likes. Or maybe even not having the app at all. That’s brave. And sometimes that kind of bravery changes everything.
Bloom Where You’re Planted
Esther didn’t get to move to a “better” situation before God used her. She bloomed right where she was planted. You don’t need a different body, a different personality, or different number of followers. You need roots. Your identity is NOT your outfit, your highlight reel, or your popularity. Your identity is this: You are a daughter of the King. That’s your royal position. And royalty doesn’t shrink to fit in. You may not know when your “Esther moment” will happen. But it will. Maybe it’s defending someone. Maybe it’s refusing gossip. Maybe it’s standing firm in your faith. When that moment comes, remember, You got this. Or more accurately, God’s got this and He’s got you.
Now repeat after me: I was placed here for this. I am not too young. I am not too small. I am not invisible. I am here for such a time as this.
And that means in all areas of your life. Don’t forget that. So bloom. Shine. Be brave. He chose YOU on purpose. This week, try one act of courage, especially online. Before you open your phone, ask yourself, “What kind of girl do I want to be in this space?” Then choose that.
