How to Find Your Kingdom Impact—Right Now, Right Where You Are
You Don't Have to Wait
For most of my life, I believed something that I now know simply isn’t true. I thought I had to build a successful career and make enough money first—and then, someday, I could step into ministry. I believed ministry required big budgets, buildings, staff, and systems. It felt like something you had to “arrive at” before you could ever begin.

For most of my life, I believed something that I now know simply isn’t true. I thought I had to build a successful career and make enough money first—and then, someday, I could step into ministry. I believed ministry required big budgets, buildings, staff, and systems. It felt like something you had to “arrive at” before you could ever begin.
So I worked. I planned. I built. And yet, it always felt like something was missing. Because no matter how much I tried to build toward it, there was not (what I considered) enough left over to create what I thought ministry needed to look like. If I’m honest, I felt like I was always almost ready… but never quite there.
Then something shifted. God began to show me a simple but powerful truth: Ministry isn’t about what you have—it’s about who you’re willing to be. He started working on my heart and showing me that I didn’t need to wait. I didn’t need more money, more time, or more resources. I needed to use what I already had—my voice, my story, and my willingness to love people. That’s when I realized something I wish I had known much earlier: You can make a kingdom impact right where you are, with what you already have!
I’ve seen this lived out in some incredible ways. I recently met a young girl who started something called Silent Sirens. She grew up in a home where her dad is a firefighter and her mom is a police officer. Through her own experiences, she saw the weight that first responders and their families carry. She could have stayed quiet. She could have assumed she needed money, a platform, or a big organization to make a difference. But instead, she chose to show up. Yes, there are costs to things like events or materials—but what she’s doing at the core doesn’t cost anything. She shares her story. She connects with people. She reminds them that they matter and that someone cares. Her heart is simple but powerful: she wants to make sure no child ever has to lose a parent to suicide because they believed no one cared. That’s impact. Sometimes, impact doesn’t start with a plan—it starts with compassion.
I also met a young girl whose story has stayed with me. She was just 7 years old when she saw something on TV about malnourished rescue animals. It stirred something in her so deeply that she paused and asked her parents if it was really true. Instead of moving on, she chose to respond. What started as a simple lemonade stand turned into something much bigger over time. I actually met her at the café she and her family eventually opened—Café Delanie—which now helps support rescue animals. Standing there, you would never guess it all started with one small moment of compassion from a young girl who simply cared enough to do something.
Different stories, same starting point: they saw something—and didn’t ignore it. And that’s really the heart of this message: anyone can make a difference, at any age, in any season. Your impact doesn’t have to be big to be meaningful. It might look like helping one friend who’s struggling, starting a small Bible study, or encouraging someone online. It could look like a simple side-hustle with a purpose—like a lemonade stand that gives back, making bracelets and donating the money, hosting a bake sale for a cause you care about, or starting something small that helps meet a real need. Or maybe it’s simply noticing someone who feels unseen and reminding them they matter. Maybe it grows into something bigger over time. But it all starts the same way: seeing a need—and choosing not to look away. At Heartland Place, where my husband and I now serve through ministry, this truth has shaped everything we do. We don’t want to spend our lives chasing money just to make ministry possible. Instead, our heart is to create something now that can help support the causes we care about. But even in that, we never want to lose sight of what matters most—that ministry isn’t built on money. It’s built on people who are willing to love, serve, and show up!
So if you’re wondering where to start, here’s something simple to ask yourself: Where do I see a need—and what can I do about it right now? Not someday. Not when you have more. Not when you feel ready. Right now.Because you don’t have to wait to be a kingdom builder. You already have what it takes. And someone out there is waiting for you to use it.
Your Kingdom Challenge
You don’t need a platform. You don’t need money. You just need a willing heart. Ask yourself what breaks your heart or makes you want to help, who around you needs encouragement right now, and what is one small thing you can do this week. Then take action: start something small, encourage one person intentionally, and share your story with someone who needs it.
Remember:
Your impact doesn’t have to be big to be powerful. When you let God use what you already have, your impact will reach further than you think.
